Sterling silver, epoxy resin, flora
Bod Flora / 2018
Flora Jewel explores the relationship between body and nature in the context of a concrete jungle. Elements of an outer CBD garden were drawn from and applied to pieces of wearable objects, executed through methods of metal smithing, lost wax casting, and resin casting. Colour palettes and extracted imprints of environmental textures into silicone were then activated in the objects. Flora from the site was embedded in epoxy resin, and motifs such as tree bark, sap, and fountain bubbles were appropriated into a wearable form. The complied elements of the work produced a series of jewellery pieces to be worn on the body as a connection to nature when ones environment presents a lack thereof.
